We met online in October 2018 and knew pretty quickly it was “meant to be.” We moved in together in August 2019, got engaged in October and chose Newagen as our venue in December. Covid interrupted our plans to get married at Newagen in August of 2020, so we ended up eloping in August 2020 and welcomed our first child, Crosby, to the world in May 2021. Throughout all of the chaos and unpredictability, we knew we still wanted to throw a wedding and reception where we could gather with all of our friends and family.

But why Newagen? Our goal from the start was to find a venue somewhere on the beautiful New England coast with superb food; we also wanted a venue that offers a private and secluded space as well as lodging for all our family and friends for a full weekend of celebration. Newagen had it all!

Newagen’s grounds, flowers, ocean views and cozy coastal vibes are stunning. As soon as we stepped onto the back deck, on our initial tour of the property, Katie leaned over and whispered, “let’s get married here.” We immediately fell in love with the scenery and it ended up being the most beautiful backdrop for our celebration. In the months since our wedding, our guests have continued to talk about how impressively perfect the setting was.

The food and dining services at Newagen are truly exceptional. We consider ourselves foodies and Newagen did not disappoint, offering delicious coastal food that is elevated and sophisticated. One particular family member shared that our reception dinner was the best meal she had all summer and was hands down the best wedding meal she had ever had. We were also extremely impressed with the level of service and attention to detail.

The most important thing to us was finding a venue that would act as a local destination wedding where the majority of our wedding guests could make a weekend out of our celebration. Newagen could host our entire clan of family and friends for a private and intimate weekend. It was so magical to have everyone we know in one place for a whole weekend, and with all the amenities and activities available at Newagen it genuinely felt like a vacation for our guests. Our family and friends enjoyed lounging at the pool, sailing around the Southport bay with the chartered catamaran (a big hit with our aunts and uncles), jumping off the dock, playing lawn games, bowling in the Pine Room, and biking around the island—to say nothing of the amazing lobster bake on Friday, which turned into a mini wedding reception in itself!

Finally, the staff at Newagen helped to make our wedding weekend perfect. We could not have predicted how incredibly helpful everyone would be: Housekeeping, Servers, Front Desk, and other members of the management team were all sincere, kind, and genuinely enjoyed working at Newagen. Neither of us experienced much of the stress you hear about when planning a wedding as large and complicated as ours was; we can only assume that’s because the team at Newagen absorbed so much of that anxiety and ensured that our weekend would be as smooth and perfect as possible. Newagen really took care of us and we are forever grateful for the memories we made there.
