The Top 3 Midcoast Maine Golf Courses

With summer officially in the rearview mirror, golfers from across New England turn their attention to autumn’s peak. And very few golf destinations on the East Coast rival Midcoast Maine amid fall. Luckily for you and your group, there are several scenic, challenging Midcoast Maine golf courses near Newagen Seaside Inn. Many of the top golf courses in Maine were established over 100 years ago, which adds a little extra charm and history into the mix.

3 Top-Rated Midcoast Maine Golf Courses

When you’re not leaf-peeping, whale watching, and hiking near Boothbay Harbor, we highly recommend embarking on a short yet beautiful trip to one of these top-rated Midcoast Maine golf courses.

Boothbay Harbor Country Club – Boothbay

Not only is the Boothbay Harbor Country Club just 7.5 miles away from Newagen Seaside Inn, but this three-season golf destination is down the road from Boothbay Craft Brewery, the farmer’s market, and a wide variety of shops. You won’t find a more scenic landscape and luxurious country club during your mid-autumn travels. Every fall, the dense forestry that encloses this countryside course transforms into an awe-inspiring blend of marigold, amber, hunter green, and sparse crimson. The pace of play at this ever-popular Boothbay golf course is right in that sweet spot in-between speedy and sluggish. Not all Midcoast Maine golf courses can claim to have soft greens, well-groomed fairways, and scenic tee shots—but Boothbay certainly can.

Brunswick Golf Club – Brunswick

Maine Golf Courses

Brunswick Golf Club is gaining traction in the growing Boothbay Harbor golf scene amongst travelers and locals, primarily because of its lush forestry, low prices, and peaceful backcountry holes. If you search “country clubs near me” during your stay, you’ll likely stumble across this hidden gem as it rests in-between Portland and Boothbay, right off U.S. 1. Brunswick remains one of the oldest Midcoast Maine golf courses as they just celebrated their 120th season last year. You’ll discover historic charm, a well-maintained landscape (including colorful flowerbeds), and a whole lot of deep-woods tranquility.

Wawenock Golf Club – Walpole

Walpole’s Wawenock Golf Club is a bit of a wild card as golf enthusiasts tend to play 18 holes at some of the area’s well-known country clubs, but don’t overlook this fun, beginner-friendly course. The reason that we chose this nine-hole “local treasure” is that it features vibrant fall foliage. Because it’s a newer, low-priced course, it has a slightly-unkempt, backwoods ambiance that appeals to those who’re hoping to play nine (or 18) holes while also observing the scenic surroundings. The old farmhouse on the property doubles as a clubhouse and hosts The White Owl restaurant.
