Experience the Coastal Woodlands of Maine

This summer you’ll want to lace up your boots and go for a hike through the coastal woodlands of Maine! With many exciting animals and foliage to spot, you’ll be on the right track for the perfect afternoon adventure. Boothbay Harbor brings a sense of coastal serenity to our beautiful Newagen Seaside Inn, which is sure to make your trip one for the books. Activities on-site range from on the water fun with boating, swimming, and kayaking, to the picturesque villages of Maine which feature historical museums, shops, and local dining spots.  Here are a couple of our favorite gardens, nature spots, and coastal trails for you to adventure your way through Maine when staying with us!

Botanical Gardens

A perfect family activity is The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, which hosts a fantastic collection of flora and fauna. Many of their selections are native to Maine and specifically our coastal region. You can enjoy strolling through the garden at your own pace while basking in the sun and relaxing in nooks along the way. Experience beautiful flowers, in all sorts of hues, along with sculptures and artwork on display. Don’t forget to stop by the Kitchen Garden Café to fuel up, before taking one of their guided tours.

For more information on all that you can see and do at the Botanical Gardens, read our related post: Love is in Bloom at the Beautiful Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens!

Maine’s Coastline

Many of Maine’s trailheads feature beautiful views of the coastline. You’ll want to have your camera with you to capture memories and stunning sunsets. We suggest visiting downtown Boothbay Harbor, a picturesque coastal village filled with shops, restaurants, and galleries. After a day of exploring downtown Boothbay Harbor, retreat to Newagen Seaside Inn to watch a quintessential Maine sunset from Cape Newagen with your family or solo. It is indeed an experience you won’t want to forget!
