Savage Oakes Vineyard and Winery
Another Southern Maine winery near Boothbay Harbor is Savage Oakes Vineyard and Winery! This Union, Maine, vineyard is lovingly owned and operated by the Savage family. Since 1985, this property has been home to a herd of cattle, blueberry fields, and the vineyard itself. Today, the winery operates nearly four acres that grow 10 varieties of grapes. What makes this spot unique is its combination of old and new — the family recently added 95 solar panels to its 18th-century barn! Over 100 years ago, a homeless traveler was welcomed to the farm. Upon his departure, he carved a universal symbol on the cellar door that let fellow travelers know they would find hospitality there.
