Activities at Newagen Seaside Inn

Looking for a one-stop destination for both indoor and outdoor things to do in Boothbay Harbor? During a stay at Newagen Seaside Inn, take advantage of our wide variety of on-property activities! For no additional cost, try rowing, playing tennis, going on a bike ride, or swimming in our saltwater pool overlooking the ocean. Our Pine Room’s indoor activities include table tennis, billiards, and candlepin bowling. With so many family-friendly things to do at guests’ fingertips, it’s easy to spend a whole day enjoying this historic inn’s 20 acres!

Whale Watching

The best family vacations in Maine always include an excursion with Cap’n Fish’s Whale Watch  and Nature Cruises! Children will love experiencing the anticipation as they search for surfacing whale tails. These cruises are also educational; little ones learn so much about the many sea creatures native to Midcoast Maine. Cap’n Fish’s Whale Watch and Nature Cruises are held May through October, when the weather isn’t as chilly!

Maine State Aquarium

The Maine State Aquarium in Boothbay Harbor is one of the best indoor activities in Maine! Located in a scenic spot on the water, this family favorite offers hands-on opportunities to see, touch, and learn all about marine life. One of the most memorable attractions at the Maine State Aquarium is the 20-foot long touch tank filled with spiny sea stars, urchins, and much more! There are plenty of other exhibits worth exploring, too. The aquarium is open during summer and fall, so plan accordingly.

Boothbay Railway Village

Throughout the year, the Boothbay Railway Village offers fun, interactive opportunities to learn about Maine’s locomotive history. Families love hopping aboard the 30-acre museum’s 100-year-old steam locomotive, seeing an original Ford Model T, and even petting goats! Occasionally, the museum also offers holiday events, artisan demonstrations, hands-on history lessons, and specialty tours. There truly is something for everyone at the Railway Village, and no two visits are alike! This popular attraction is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. between May and October. Tickets cost $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $6 for children between the ages of three and 18.
