The Power of Maine Lifestyle
When owners Scott and Corinne Larson were pregnant with their daughter, they realized they wanted a quieter and simpler lifestyle. They were living in urban Atlanta but wanted a different quality of life for their children. This search led them to Boothbay Harbor and Newagen Seaside Inn.
They began the purchasing process in 2000. Despite only having five months to make improvements, they got it done. The first guest after the Grand Opening party in May 2001 was a whale that swam back and both in front of the inn.
“We were told this was a sure harbinger of good fortune. I knew then, and I know now that we made the right decision to move to Maine,” Corinne said.
Their purchase of Newagen was not the first time the pair had been to Maine. Corinne had taken a sea kayaking course and spent her junior year of college in Maine. In his twenties, Scott came to Maine on vacation and immediately fell in love.
“It was the natural beauty. The simplicity,” Scott said. “ I’m driven, every day, to recreate that experience for our guests. They come to Newagen for the same reasons I did, and I want them to have the same authentic, coastal Maine getaway.”
