Newagen Seaside Inn History

Newagen Seaside Inn began as an exclusive summer colony in 1816, frequented by famous and distinguished guests. The combination of beautiful views, fresh seafood, and New England hospitality made Newagen one of the most prestigious oceanfront resorts of the 1920s.

In 1943, the original Inn burned to the ground and was rebuilt in the grand Colonial Revival style building you see today. Over the next 60 years, Newagen became one of the top destinations in Boothbay Harbor and was no longer a playground for the privileged few but for everyone.

Experience the longstanding tradition of Maine hospitality at our historic Newagen Seaside Inn!
