Why Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts Is One of the Best Group Attractions
Educational Tours
Unlike most arts organizations, Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts places an emphasis on group tours. Individual artists tackle their personal projects at this unique center, but groups have access to Watershed’s many facilities, too! A custom tour gives guests an insight into the artist studios, kiln shed, outdoor sculptures, and Thompson Hall (which features works created by past artists-in-residence). There’s even a gift shop offering sculptures, clothing, and accessories for purchase!
Engaging Workshops
During the spring and fall, Watershed offers fun and engaging community firing workshops featuring nationally recognized guest artists. These special events are a great way to learn all about the art of sculpture. Watershed’s kiln is closed during the winter months, but group firing reservations can still be made during this time. No matter the occasion for visiting Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts, people have a wonderful time bonding over the power of creativity!
Interactive Events
A truly memorable way to experience Watershed is to attend one of their signature events! In addition to providing tours to the public, the center hosts two annual events: The Soup Bowl Supper and Watershed Salad Days celebration. In the spring, the Soup Bowl Supper provides guests with handmade ceramic bowls and an all-you-can-eat chowder dinner. The Salad Days feast takes place every July. It entails a locally sourced community dinner, a keepsake plate, live entertainment, and plenty more festive fun. Both of these events are perfect excuses to gather a group and enjoy the splendor of Midcoast Maine!
